Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 24, 2026
1. Introduction
Tabberio ("we", "our", "us") is a Chrome browser extension for tab management. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
2. Data We Collect
2.1 Data Stored Locally
The majority of your data never leaves your browser. The following is stored locally using Chrome's storage APIs:
- Workspace and folder configurations
- Tab groups, saved sessions, and frozen tabs
- Extension preferences and settings
- Keyboard shortcut customizations
2.2 Data Collected When You Sign In (Optional)
If you choose to create an account for cloud sync, we collect:
- Email address (for authentication)
- Encrypted workspace data (for cross-device sync, end-to-end encrypted)
2.3 Anonymous Analytics (Optional)
We collect anonymous usage analytics to improve the product. This includes feature usage counts and general performance metrics. No personally identifiable information, browsing history, or tab content is ever included. You can opt out of analytics in the extension settings.
3. Data We Do NOT Collect
Tabberio does not collect or transmit:
- Your browsing history or page content
- URLs or titles of your tabs (unless part of a synced workspace)
- Passwords, form data, or cookies
- Personal files or downloads
- Any data to third-party advertisers
4. Browser Permissions
Tabberio requests the following Chrome permissions, each required for core functionality:
- tabs / tabGroups — Read and manage your open tabs and tab groups for workspace organization
- storage / unlimitedStorage — Save your workspaces, settings, and frozen tab data locally
- sidePanel — Display Tabberio in Chrome's side panel
- alarms — Schedule tab auto-freeze and reminders
- scripting — Freeze and restore tabs to save memory
- contextMenus — Right-click menu integration for quick actions
- identity — Sign-in for optional cloud sync
- notifications — Alert you about tab limits, frozen tabs, or reminders
- host_permissions (all URLs) — Required for tab freezing/restoring to work on any webpage
5. Cloud Sync & Encryption
Cloud sync is entirely optional. When enabled, your workspace data is end-to-end encrypted before leaving your device. We cannot read your synced data on our servers. You can delete all cloud data at any time from your account settings.
6. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- PostHog (EU-hosted) — Anonymous product analytics
- Authentication providers — For optional account sign-in (Google OAuth)
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
7. Data Retention
Local data is retained until you uninstall the extension or clear it manually. Cloud sync data is retained while your account is active and deleted within 30 days of account deletion. Anonymous analytics data is retained for up to 12 months.
8. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Use Tabberio without an account (all core features work offline)
- Opt out of analytics at any time
- Export your data from the extension settings
- Delete your account and all associated cloud data
- Request a copy of any data we hold about you by contacting us
9. Children's Privacy
